In partnership with SSE Wildcats event.

The push for the country to become more health-aware has gained prominence in society and media in recent years and in this ‘Fast-Food, Keyboard Warrior Age’ this topic becomes ever more important. In support of this ideology of health and wellbeing Hull City Ladies FC are keen to contribute, this is why we are proud to be promoting our FREE GIRLS FOOTBALL DAY on 4th May at Goals Soccer Centre Hull in partnership with the launch of the SSE Wildcats Hull event.

What is the Free Girls Football Day?

Our FREE GIRLS FOOTBALL FUN DAY is a skills event where girls can turn up and receive professional coaching and take part in all aspects of football including matches and tactical sessions. The FREE GIRLS FOOTBALL DAY is one of Hull City Ladies’ grassroots youth projects, which aim to encourage young girls ages 5 to 16 to engage in football at an early age and in turn help them to live a more active and healthy lifestyle.

Last year Hull City Ladies FC reached 500+ girls through our in-school healthy eating schemes and our grassroots skills events and hope this trend continues. Demand for Hull City Ladies half-term camps has been increasing and they have been well received by parents and attendees alike and we expect demand and success to be similar in regards to this FREE GIRLS FOOTBALL FUN DAY and SSE Wildcats event and we hope to continue to promote and inspire future generations of women and girls to come through such events.

What is an SSE Wildcats event?

The SSE Wildcats Girls’ Football Centres from The FA fit in with our ideologies and provide girls aged 5-11 with regular opportunities to play football. The initiative follows the FREE GIRLS FOOTBALL FUN DAY and offers organised sessions in a fun and engaging environment created exclusively for girls. More than 200 clubs were piloted across England in 2017 and the scheme is now being extended to more than 900 centres with 26,000 participants across the country.

What benefits could come from these events?

Many studies have proven that a healthy active lifestyle assists academic success and team building and co-operating as part of a team helps with making friends and can also help with self-confidence.
A BBC report recently published stated 80% of girls that were involved in football said that playing made them feel more confident and 58% said they had overcome a lack of self-confidence as a result of playing football regularly.

Any perks and offers?

Any attendees of the FREE GIRLS FOOTBALL FUN DAY event will also receive the opportunity to be a mascot for the Hull City Ladies v Nottingham Forest Ladies league fixture the following day 5th May which is the team’s last home game of the season. This also coincides with HCLFC’s community day where any adults in attendance for the game will get the reduced ticket rate of £2 per person, any under 16’s in attendance all enter for free and would also get the opportunity to win prizes, have photographs with players and access to many other giveaways.
