Hull City Ladies secured a fantastic 4-0 victory against Sheffield Women at Haworth Park in a dominant and hard fought performance.

Adi Costello was delighted with his teams performance and was pleased with the Tigresses discipline and attitude.

Costello said: “Said in the dressing room, tactically we got it right, players were disciplined enough to play how we wanted them to play and by doing that they can see the rewards. We’ve got to take our hats off to them, we did very little, the players were superb today. They deserved all the clapping, all the support.

It was a well deserved win for the Tigresses with two goals from Helen Lynskey and Rachael Ackroyd securing the three points.

“All the goals were fantastic I thought, we had one disallowed, one hit the bar, Katie went close, Ackers went close and at half-time we said go put pressure on them and finish them off in the first 15 minutes and Ackers scored two great goals. We know Ackers can do that, run in between two centre halfs, get the ball and put it in the corner.

Brilliant goals by both girls, Helen’s first one turn and volley into the net was superb,” said Costello.

The Tigresses had a flurry of chances before the 1st goal, with Helen hitting the woodwork.

“I think we the goals we’re training on are a little bit higher as we seem to hit the bar quite a lot but we’ll take the 4-0 win, it was a good performance and we deserved it,” said Costello.

It was fantastic team performance, Hull City Ladies pressed for more goals and kept Sheffield scoreless with some resolute defending, as Adi Costello expressed it was difficult for him to chose a player of the match.

“Tanser never lost a header, back 4 were great, 2 girls sitting in-front were incredible, Helen and Ackers were great, Harriet been running around sticking her head where people’s feet should be, it’s really hard to pick player of the match, Katie was superb too today.”

“We made sure every girl got a game too, we made some subs and it shouldn’t be no reflection on the girls we brought off”, Adi added.

It was great to see a good crowd and great to see Malet Lambert Youth Team all having a good day as mascots.

Costello said “Was big crowd today, very good crowd lets hope we can get another good crowd on Mothers Day. These girls respond well to clapping and shouting. Fair play to Tommy, first time got to sing mauled by the Tigers, fair play, I really enjoyed it today.”
