A great performance and a very entertaining watch from the Tigresses earned all three points at the LNER stadium, moving into 5th place in the Division 1 North Table which secured their 7th victory of the season.
To begin the game an intercepted pass by York city allowed a chance to run down their left-hand side, an overhit cross to the edge of the box met with a first time shot blasted over the bar.
A quick break from York to the left-hand side saw a good run from the York winger, a well-timed tackle breaks down that attack and the goes out for a corner. Back-to-back corner clearances for the tigresses leads to a third, corner is taken short followed by a one two hit first time in the box met by a York header just wide.
A brilliantly worked move starting all the way from the back with centre half Kahlen Watters sending a lofted ball left meeting the feet of Hope Knight to take a great touch, followed by a quick skill to allows her to get past to set the ball into Ackroyd’s feet. A trailing run to the back post from Thompson, met by a lovely dummy through the legs of Rachel Ackroyd to give Katie Thompson a tight angled shot at the back post, a shot near post meeting the York’s keeper’s grasp.
A ball back from the York centre back to the York city’s goalkeeper, a poor touch followed by good pressure from Ackroyd results in a misplaced pass out of play for a corner. A good ball in the box is met by a tigress’s head and ball just hit over the bar.
Jo Symington with a great run into the middle of the park, great footwork and spacing allows a weak foot shot to hit just over the bar the score staying 0-0.
With missed opportunities from either side, end of the half sees the scoreline goalless.

For the 4th time in 6 games, A well timed run from the number 8 Valicity Jones followed by a good, lofted ball to meet it broke down the tigresses’ defence sending her 1 on 1 with Abi Wallace, a weak shot and a slight touch from the goalkeeper the ball trickled into the net to give York the lead 1-0
Ball down to the right-hand side and some good footwork to give the player time for a cross, ball into the box is met by a good header from the York City attacker saw the ball fly into the bottom right-hand corner a good dive straight into the Abi Wallace’s hands.
A brilliantly worked chance starting on the centre circle for the tigresses begins with fast link up play between 4 of them, a quick low ball sending Rachel Ackroyd through on goal until a foul on the edge of the box leads to a free kick right hand side. Free kick taken by Thompson hit hard into the top left corner and a good save breaks the chance down.
After multiple good chances for the tigresses their time finally came. Good movement from Emily Smith to get herself open to allow a ball into her feet edge of the box to lay a great ball to Hope Knight. Awareness and a good touch on the edge of the box allowing Knight an open shot on goal, a low hard shot across goal right side beating the keeper to extend her top scoring tally for the tigresses, the score back even.
Ball picked up from 25 yards by Rachel Ackroyd an unexpected, lobbed strike straight over the keeper doubles the tigresses score to give them the lead. A clinical evening from the tigresses gives them the momentum for the rest of the game.
Hull City Ladies looking to extend the 1 goal cushion with a great ball down the right hand side, ball into the box was high and far looking to be claimed by the York City Goalkeeper. An incoming Knight getting a vital touch to flick the ball over before the keeper can claim, a collision between the two saw the ball to travel into an empty net and give Knight her brace to secure all three points for the tigresses.
