Tigresses Back In Training
Tuesday 27th June saw the return of our Tigresses after the summer break. Staff and players had enjoyed an extended 6 week break since the end of the season but all converged on Sirius Academy on Tuesday evening to be greeted and welcomed back in to the start of the next challenge
Last season Chris Hames’ side finished 5th in their return to the FAWNL North 1 – an inconsistent campaign that saw many moments of promise and an equal measure of frustration. The rest and break gave the group chance to revitalise and come back ready for improvement this year round
“We haven’t hidden anything from the fact we felt 5th didn’t reflect our abilities” Hames responded “but it reflected the issues we had last year, which was inconsistency. That comes from a number of areas, but I can’t hide behind previous seasons for long, and from Christmas I have to take responsibility for where we’ve fallen short – that will all be addressed in this preseason”
As with every side across the country, the return also saw some new faces added in to the sessions this week. When probed on new signings the manager added
“We of course wanted to add, to gain some new ideas, to add some competition in to key positions, so we are hopeful we can add the 2 or 3 we feel we need”
“If we don’t add a single person, the squad we have is very good, I believe in them and I know this group can achieve more than we did last year. The landscape is always changing, and to make ourselves a more competitive and complete team is always something we want to address and action. We have made good offers to people we value very highly, so hopefully we will be announcing these very soon”
