Sunday marks the end of the current FAWNL season, and an opportunity for Hull City Ladies to get their hands on the Division 1 North Trophy
The game at Broadhurst Park, home to FC United of Manchester, also marks the last game for Kahlen Watters
Cool, calm and composed from the minute she stepped into the club in the summer of 2022, Kahlen has worked her way from 16 year old debutant to essential part of a title winning squad
A Donny Belles RTC graduate, Kahlen made the decision to her home town club as she entered senior women’s football for the first time, and was thrust straight into the action, making her debut away at eventual 2023 champions Newcastle United, in front of over 4,000 fans – a game that City won in style
Sunday will be Kahlen’s 40th in the orange and black, before she embarks on the next chapter in her journey heading over to Georgia in the US
“I am extremely proud to be part of this team. We have worked hard together, for each other and for the badge to earn our success. What a season it’s been, full of amazing moments and memories. The support has been amazing, home and away, giving us a lift when we have needed it and roaring us on when we’ve earned it. I have done my best to make the most of every opportunity that I have had this season, growing as a player and being able to learn from quality experienced players. Really gutted not to be able to continue the journey with City next season, but I will be roaring everyone on from the US! ” – Kahlen
“Kahlen has been an integral part of our squad since the day she arrived. She has developed and learned the adults game, and every set back or disappointment – whether that be performance of selection related – she has grown from and used to fuel her next progression. Kahlen plays like a seasoned pro, and whilst I and we will miss her, we are so excited for her next steps in the journey which I believe will help her take steps to grow even further” – First Team manager, Chris Hames
“What a season she has had! For how young she is, she is very mature and has not looked out of place this season in what is a very competitive league. She’s a brilliant footballer, but mostly importantly she’s a great kid as well and I know the future will be very bright for her if she continues to work as hard as she does.
I wish her all the best in her exciting new adventure in America. What an opportunity by the way!! I know she’ll smash it and I’ll be following her journey all the way! Good luck Kahlen!” – Club captain, Ellie Tanser
