In a game that was more importantly focussed on marking respects for a giant of the women’s game, following the sudden and unexpected passing of Matt Beard – both sides and the entire stadium were incredible in seeing out an impeccable minutes silence. The day also marked 2 years since the passing of Maddie Cusack who had made her own huge mark on the game for many of the players and fans of both sides

Jess Tugby-Andrew gave City the lead. A pin point delivery from an Erin Nicholson free kick was prodded home at the second attempt for Jess’ second of the season
It didn’t take long for Wolves to respond, equalising after a breakdown in possession in the City midfield.

As the second half came underway, Wolves turned up from a good first half showing, to an exceptionally clinical one. Five goals from varying areas across the pitch turned a game that had been a good contest, in to one that will long haunt the Tigresses
City’s best chance to get anything back again came from a set piece, Cath Hamill had two attempts blocked by the Wolves Keeper, and Tugby-Andrew was inches away from tapping home from a similar scenario
