During a busy period on the pitch there is always work and stories forming behind the scenes. A run down and update on all things in the Hull City Ladies first team.
Injury Updates
Ahead of the Wolves game at the beginning of the month, forward Sophie Haywood suffered an injury in training which has kept her out since. Following swift and successful surgery Sophie will miss the remainder of the season looking at a return in the 2026/27 season.
Long term absentee Sophie Tinson has been making exceptional progress, after 12 months out so far, a clear target has been set for Sophie to be ready and available to return to action in the pre-season.
Lib Bott, Jess Holder and Chloe Copsey are all on their return to play plans, being midway through their long-term recovery process following ACL injuries. Chloe has had a set back on her return, having hoped to be available this season, but the club continues to work with her to support long term.
Tillie Oxley has been back in training a month since doing her knee in October 2024. Massive progress each week and Tillie will be targeting return to contact training by the end of the season and ready to hit the ground running in pre-season
Jo Symington is making great progress through her return to a hamstring injury that has kept her out since October – an ongoing process following surgery and return to playing after an ACL injury throughout the 2024/25 campaign.
Ellice Zand has been making a slow return to training and action after giving birth in June, the club has been providing a platform for a gradual return to training and playing.
Away from the club
Lily Cockerill and Alexandra Gatt both made short term moves away from Hull City Ladies at the start of the month. Heading to Lincoln and York respectively, with the aim of providing game time and a boost in opportunity and confidence.
Georgia Wattam also left in May, making a permanent move to York City – we of course wish her all the best after 2 years with the Tigresses.
Behind the scenes
Kieran Goforth has joined the club as media lead, working across socials, the website and growing the club brand.
Kirsty Eastwood has stepped in to the role of interim club secretary for the remainder of the season, taking on the tasks carried out by Alex Robinson. Alex has temporarily stepped down from his role with the club earlier in the month after 7 years of incredible service.
Development Team
Our Development team have made two cup finals through the past month. A Penalty shoot-out win over Billericay secured a place in the FAWNL Reserve Cup Final on 19th April. 4 days later the young Tigresses then enter the East Riding County Cup final, facing current holders Preston Ladies.
