On Sunday 5th May 2024, Hull City Ladies lifted the FAWNL Division 1 North title, and with it promotion into the FAWNL Northern Premier division

But what does it all mean?

The Tigresses secured promotion to the Third Tier of the Women’s football pyramid on Tuesday 30th April, after beating rivals Leeds United 5-1, before following that up with a comprehensive final day victory over FC United of Manchester, before getting their hands (paws) on the trophy

City had spent the last two seasons back at Tier 4, after last competing at Tier 3 (the FAWNL Northern Premier) between 2018 and 2022, and finished seven points clear of nearest challengers Middlesbrough

So promotion it is!

This takes City into the Northern Premier (Tier 3 is split regionally between Northern and Southern Premier divisions). For context, Newcastle United – City’s divisional rival last season – have just won that division to take them into the professional Championship

Tier 3 sees our Tigresses welcome some of the games most established names to the East Riding: Burnley, Derby County, West Bromwich Albion, Wolves, Stoke City and Nottingham Forest as well as former North 1 winners Liverpool Feds; this seasons FA Cup opponents Halifax; former cup opponents Stourbridge and Sporting Khalsa who won the midlands league title this year

It looks to be an exciting season ahead.
