Hull City Ladies are delighted to announce the signing of dynamic midfielder, Helen Lynskey from FAWNL Midlands Div 1 side Barnsley WFC
Helen needs no introduction to anyone at Hull City Ladies. A true legend of the club across two spells and an array of personal and club awards. Lynskey returns having spent the last 6 months at Midlands side Barnsley WFC where she made 16 appearances, scoring 9 goals including one against the Tigresses in the FAWNL Cup earlier in the season
First joining the Tigresses in 2018, making 19 appearances and scoring 4 goals – Helen made her biggest impact in her second spell: 96 appearances, 38 goals, one league title and FAWNL Northern Div 1 North top goalscorer in 2024
First Team Manager Chris Hames:
“I am delighted to welcome Helen back to the club. Her impact on this club and team speaks for itself across the last 8 years – a true professional both on and off the pitch and an excellent footballer. Helen comes in to a very different environment to the one she left in the summer, we have spoken about its togetherness a lot this year, but Helen’s drive and the standards she sets for herself, and the group around her, will help push us even further”
Helen Lynskey on her return:
Helen! Welcome back to Hull City, how does it feel to be a Tigress again?
“It honestly feels like coming home. Hull has always been a club I’ve had a real connection with, and it’s where I’ve felt most like myself playing football. I’m really proud to be back, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to wear the badge again. I’m excited to get going, work hard and enjoy my football in an environment I know brings the best out of me.”
How have you found the group since coming in.
“The girls have been welcoming from the moment I came in, and the squad feels strong with a really good mix of personalities and quality. The intensity and standards in training have been exactly what I’ve been looking for, and you can feel the ambition in the group. It’s been easy to settle back in and I’m just excited to be part of it again.”
What are you hoping to achieve?
“For me, it’s about being consistent, bringing energy, and setting the standard every week. I want to make an impact with my performances and my attitude. For the group, the girls have put a real shift in during the first half of the season and that’s credit to them. I want to add to that momentum, keep driving us forward, and help the team keep improving and competing week in, week out, making sure we finish strong”
